Changes

It’s a week or so into the new school year, and the changes have begun to reveal themselves.

My heart squeezed seeing the boys in their uniforms after a summer spent in swimmers.

They’ve both grown like weeds.

Boy Wonder will soon be as tall as me and Cheeky Monkey’s cuddles are positioned slightly differently than before.

The picture I took on the first day of school confirmed to me that my little boys are fast becoming men.

(Look at Boy Wonder’s stance.)

Changes, so subtle, but big enough not to be ignored.

And it’s not just their changes that are making an impression. My situation is very different to last year.

Building my business. Speaking to clients. Excitement at all the newness.

The boys are aware that Mum has a different role.

“Do you blog about me?”

“Is your work something to do with your moustache?” BW asks.

I smile, “Kind of” I reply.

Changes; heart-rending, scary, but not entirely unwelcome.

  1. Glad that your changes are not unwelcome. Here’s to many more awesome changes xx

  2. Those small changes from child to man are so amazing. The glimpses of the adult make your heart stop don’t they.

    Here’s to changes xox

  3. My ten year old is reaching that “gangly boy” stage, while my 6 year old is still small enough to pick up and cuddle. It won’t be for long.

  4. Ahhhh boys to men. Bittersweet. xoxo

  5. I’m with you regarding the boys growing like weeds part! My boys have done just that too. My baby is now a big high schooler and is absolutely thriving so far. It seems like a lifetime ago I was taking him to pre-school. *sigh*

But changes are good. I’m doing more for me this year too. Here’s to both of us spreading our wings and extending our horizons! *clinks glasses*
